  • Overview:

    Genie Industries/Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), a business segment of the Terex Corporation, is headquartered in Redmond, WA with branch offices worldwide; we manufacture material lifts, aerial work platforms, trailer-mounted booms and light towers, telehandlers, scissor lifts and self-propelled telescopic and articulating booms.


    • Supervise a staff of Materials personnel dedicated to Production Control; plant scheduling, production control coordinators. 
    • Managing plant capacity, plant scheduling, ensuring that these activities are performed in a manner that supports the Terex Operating System.  Instructs and trains personnel to perform work assignments efficiently and safely. 
    • Responsible for translating S&OP data into TMS capacities, plant schedules and supplier forecasts.  Supervises the activities related to production control scheduling, value stream standard work in process, inventory accuracy and value stream materials support activities.
    • Support and administer all company procedures and policies with a primary focus on safety procedures and behavior. Maintain employee work history files and time attendance records. 
    • Maintain good team member and customer support through counseling, development and proper application of employee relations policies.

    Essential Functions

    • Ensure that all activities are performed safely. Identify and report any unsafe conditions or acts to appropriate personnel and the Materials Manager.
    • Responsible for overseeing the ERP plant capacity is input and maintained at 100% accuracy, including model mix and option %s.  Translates this data into various plant schedules, manages build card releases, proper paperwork handling and transacting throughout the finished goods and shipping process.
    • Maintain excellent relationships with our internal partners and customers in manufacturing.
    • Perform a daily walk through of the assigned work areas, verifying solid material flow and all materials are safely and neatly stored.  Validate the organization and cleanliness of the areas and take appropriate measures to resolve any issues.
    • Supervise and provide support, direction, and coaching to assigned staff in the areas of training, problem resolution, planning, work assignment delegation, performance management and development.
    •  Staffing responsibilities including selection and review of Team Members performance.  Trains new Team Members. Communicates company philosophies and policies, teaches and demonstrates work routines.  Maintains Team Member work history files including attendance and performance data.
    • Oversee department operations with on-going focus on safety, inventory accuracy, continuous improvement, cost containment, process analysis and compliance to Making Material Flow, Lean and TOS philosophies.
    • Focus on creating a lean culture by participating in and supporting all lean workshops and TIP events, 5S,  standard work, maintaining documented processes, document changes (PCNs), post standards, monitor performance, create visual systems and perform daily audits.
    • Train production control team to monitor on time assembly (OTA) and on time manufacturing (OTM) status of finished goods inventory ensuring the posting of units is timely and the inventory accuracy is 100%.  Finished goods inventory must remain secured and in shippable condition at all times.
    • Work with manager to establish department goals and performance metrics.  Visually display up-to-date departmental KPIs and production control metrics, keeping all team members informed of their individual and team performance.
    • Ensures compliance to established company procedures and policies.
    • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.




    Knowledge and Skills


    • Demonstrated knowledge and competence in concepts, principles, and standard practices in Supply Chain Mgmt., Scheduling, Material Handling, Inventory Control and Lean Manufacturing.
    • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.
    • Employee must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Must possess excellent organizational and troubleshooting skills. Must be able to problem solve, prioritize, be assertive, and have the ability to multitask.
    • Requires sufficient human relations skill to conduct one-on-one training, resolve conflict, and achieve harmony with a large group of Team Members. Requires sufficient problem-solving skills to troubleshoot situations such as labor and material shortages, plant safety, tool and equipment problems, while maintaining productivity. 
    • Requires a working knowledge of production planning and production methods.
    • Must be proficient with ERP systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and other Microsoft applications. 
    • Ability to set objectives and mange/influence those factors involved with meeting these objectives.
    • Strong team building and collaboration skills.
    • Comfortable working in a high energy, fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

    Working Conditions


    • Works in a manufacturing plant.  Plant floor presence is mandatory. Uses a computer and standard office equipment.





    Basic Qualifications:
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a high performing leader (preferably in Materials Supervision) with evidence of growing responsibilities.  Must have supervised teams of at least 5 Team Members.
    • Excellent Change Management skills - must have demonstrated the ability to initiate and navigate a team through change.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in a Pull environment and exposure to related disciplines such as Lean Manufacturing, Toyota Production System, or Demand Flow Technology required.
    • Knowledge and experience with computer based inventory control and capacity planning.
    • Experience with inventory and warehouse space management concepts.
    • Demonstrated ability to motivate and coach individuals for increased performance.
    • APICS training is beneficial.
