    Genie Industries/Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), a business segment of the Terex Corporation, is headquartered in Redmond, WA with branch offices worldwide; we manufacture material lifts, aerial work platforms, trailer-mounted booms and light towers, telehandlers, scissor lifts and self-propelled telescopic and articulating booms.

    Responsibilities:

    The Buyer II assures manufacturing receives quality parts/services on-time to the point-of-use. Performs specialized and technical duties associated with the purchase, delivery, quality, and packaging of materials, equipment and services for the company’s manufacturing and engineering operations. Coordinates material flow, conversion of vendors to Genie material management systems, and timely distribution of materials.

     

    Responsibilities:

     

    • Researches, compiles, and participates in writing specifications for products, materials, and supplies used for production.
    • In collaboration with the Commodity Manager, researches, contacts, and selects potential vendors to receive proposals for price, quality, and timeliness of delivery. Conveys delivery, inventory, and quality goals to suppliers.
    • Establishes and communicates manufacturing projections and receiving patterns so that suppliers can anticipate needs and meet requirements. Learns supplier cycles, capabilities and procedures to optimize delivery time.
    • Acts as as a facilitator, supporting the relationship between manufacturing, engineering and supply base.
    • Procures urgent materials through the most effective means, considering quality, availability, cost, delivery time, and probability of continued support.
    • Participates with other supply chain/materials team members to evaluate purchasing agreements and contracts. Recommends changes and consolidations that contribute to manufacturing’s requirements and support just-in-time philosophy. Executes to these agreements.
    • Facilitates communication between suppliers and manufacturing team when evaluating situations, solving problems, and/or resolving conflicts.
    • Responsible for variance tracking with a specific focus on supplier delivery, quality and invoicing issues
    • Travel expectancy ~25% (predominantly domestic travel)

    Qualifications:

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a high performing Purchasing or Supply Chain Professional in a manufacturing environment;
    • Bachelors degree in discipline with curriculum that included purchasing or supply chain principles; in lieu of degree may consider candidates with 7+ years applicable experience in purchasing or supply chain roles within a manufacturing environment
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Proficient Microsoft applications; advanced Excel skills required 
    • Proficient with negotiations, supplier management and relationship management
    • Self-motivated 
    • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and troubleshooting skills
    • Effective training skills
    • Demonstrated, efficient troubleshooting/problem solving skills
    • Knowledge of Production Planning, MRP, Kanban, Lean Manufacturing and Inventory Control
    • APICS training, certification in production inventory control management (CPIM) or ISM Certification in procurement management (CPM) is beneficial
    • Experience in a Pull environment and exposure to related disciplines such as Lean Manufacturing, Toyota Production System, or Demand Flow Technology highly desired
