  • Overview:

    Scope of Position

    Plans, directs, and coordinates programs and processes to ensure material availability and delivery in support of AWP service parts North America. Coordinates materials requirements and deliveries with vendors, engineering, and manufacturing.

     

    This is a supervisory management position, responsible for optimizing fill rates, inventory levels, and customer satisfaction. The role is split between daily management of the procurement team and strategic long term business improvements.

     

    The position requires specialization in forecasting, planning, and executing a service parts warehouse capable of maintaining a high fill rate with minimal inventories. Requires advanced, in-depth knowledge of production planning, inventory control and planning, and production methods including automated systems such as MRP II.

     

    Requires sufficient human relations skill to conduct in-service training, establish productive relationships with vendors, resolve conflict, and achieve harmony with multiple large groups of team members. Requires sufficient problem-solving skills to troubleshoot situations such as material shortages, quality, and delivery problems.

    Responsibilities:

     

    • Ensures inventory levels are optimized to maintain a high level of fill rate with minimal inventories.
    • Develops and analyzes continuous material flow to the service parts AWP warehouses in North America. Supports the global flow of material to all AWP warehouse locations
    • Confers with engineering and others to establish quality standards for materials, parts, and supplies. Develops quality and cost standards, obtains special information (manuals and diagrams) about parts specifications, vendor reliability, and delivery times.
    • Supports the global procurement team with costs associated with materials function and develops plans that result in ongoing cost reductions.
    • Develops and organizes a small staff of Buyers and support staff to coordinate day-to-day materials flow, on time delivery, and quality standards
    • Develops metrics and standards for performance related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors. Coordinates with other operating units sharing the same vendors.   Organizes vendor files containing contact information, delivery, cost, and quality performance, and other information that supports Buyers who may be doing the ordering.
    • Keeps up-to-date knowledge of materials, pricing trends, and vendor information that affects or enhances the ability of Genie to get parts and materials.
    • Develops, establishes, and maintains reporting systems to support the materials function.
    • Works closely with manufacturing plants on forecasting and delivery of components.
    • Ensures that Genie philosophies and standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with material’s role in the service parts operation.
    • Develops plans for new part introductions, ECN’s, and aging material.
    • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
    • Responsible for inventory accuracy programs and improvements.
    • Maintains operating budget to plan.
    • Works cross-functionally with other areas such as, engineering, sales, procurement, and warehouse operations, to ensure collaboration and communication.

    Qualifications:

    Basic Qualifications

     
    • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Production and Inventory Control, Industrial Engineering or the equivalent discipline, plus four years of continuous and progressively responsible experience working in an industrial products materials function. Alternatively, the position requires an Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Manufacturing Technology and six years of experience. Substantial additional experience may substitute for some formal education. Specific experience leading a service parts aftermarket materials function is a strong plus.
     

    Preferred Qualifications

      • Requires the ability to perform the various aspects of the job. Requires sufficient reasoning ability to translate service parts plans into material requirements, troubleshoot material and labor problems, and analyze cost and quality issues. Requires the ability to review performance. Requires the ability to perform math and statistical calculations and read and record detailed measurements, counts, distances, and times. Requires the ability understand and convey safety to others, and employ continuous quality and just-in-time in the assigned teams. Requires the ability to instruct others
      • Requires ambulatory ability to walk, stand, reach, stoop, bend, and crawl on an intermittent basis. Requires sufficient hand-arm-eye coordination to use a computer keyboard. Requires visual acuity to make visual inspections and read words and numbers. Requires auditory ability to project voice in a production environment and carry on conversations in person and over the phone.
