    Position Overview

    The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing accounting, financial reporting, and internal control activity supporting multiple Terex legal entities.  Responsible for multiple legal entities as part of overall responsibility for the accounting and reporting activities of the North American operation of one of Terex business segments. This position includes reviewing and establishing consistent accounting best practices with continued focus with on-going control measures to maintain Terex policy guidelines, Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 (SOX), and U.S. GAAP.    


    The Accounting Manager is responsible to develop and support accounting team members.  This role will be a key business liaison with the U.S. business unit finance, tax, and operational leaders to ensure timely and accurate financial statement submission while ensuring reporting requirements are met.  This position is also responsible to help create an environment and culture that fosters business process improvement. 


    This position is a leadership role reporting to the GBS Controller and requires skills in leading, influencing, and coaching others, sound judgment, good communications, organizational knowledge, self-management, and strong U.S. GAAP and SOX experience.  Formation of strong partnerships with business unit and functional leaders is crucial to the overall success of this role and of Terex.

    • Oversight of GBS G/L accounting activity across a variety of legal entities. 
    • Lead financial reporting standardization and compliance in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles across business units supported by GBS.
    • Actively manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate financial results are reported timely per Corporate and Segment closing timelines. 
    • Ownership of journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, sales and use tax, and intercompany.
    • Prepare Financial reporting through Level 1 & 2 in HFM including supplemental and roll-forward schedules.
    • Partner with business unit and segment financial teams to ensure complete understanding of financial results.
    • Oversee the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance effort within GBS to ensure controls are in place and a consistent approach is utilized in accordance with the Control Design Validation (CDV), Delegation of Authority (DOA), and Internal Control Roadmap (ICRM).
    • Guide, coach, and develop GBS accounting team members to support growth of business unit accounting.
    • Develop knowledge of business and organizational issues affecting legal entity compliance in the U.S. by partnering with business unit leaders.
    • Maintain continuous dialogue with key corporate office team members across Corporate Accounting, Tax, Treasury, and Legal to ensure compliance and alignment with company direction.
    • Develop and monitor business performance metrics and service level agreements for Accounting function.



    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
    • 7+ years applied business and Accounting experience,preferably in a large, publicly traded organization or public accounting firm.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's of Science in Accounting, Master's of Business Administration, and/or Certified Management Accountant.
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CMA.
    • Experience with the Oracle ERP system.
    • Previous experience in public accounting and/or shared services.
    • Experience in using Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) reporting system.
    • Prior active technical accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Unquestionable ethics and integrity with a high degree of transparency and trust.
    • Strong leadership and influencing skills to ensure operational excellence and growth within the organization in face of conflicting priorities and limited resources.
    • Relentless in achieving results in a dynamic, changing, and demanding environment.
    • Strong personal work ethic.
    • Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem solving skills.
    • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Effective and persuasive presentation skills.
    • Perceives the impact and implications of decisions on overall entity and business units.
    • Demonstrated experience with oversight in areas of accounting, financial analysis, financial reporting, and internal control.
    • Demonstratred intermediate to advanced technical accounting skills.
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
    • System background and high comfort level in a variety of analysis and reporting tools.


    • Ability to occasionally travel 10-15% to meet business objectives.
