  • Overview:

    Terex Utilities is a truck equipment final stage manufacturer of digger derricks, aerial devices and associated equipment for the utility industrymunicipals, telecommunications, tree and electrical contractor markets.   


    This position will be assigned to the Strategic Sourcing Implementation team located in Watertown, South Dakota.  The Drafter will be working in a team environment with other members to establish efficient methods and processes, assist with new or improved components and product designs; review, verify and validate designs/drawings and update work instructions and bills of material associated with implementing new suppliers/parts directly related to the Terex Strategic Sourcing Initiative. 




    This position is responsible for creating and changing detail drawings based upon specific instructions or direction. This position may support new product, existing products, or production facilitation. 



    • Create detail drawings based upon specific instructions to support new, existing products, and/or to facilitate product assembly.
    • Complete Engineering Change Order (ECO) header sheets for release to document control
    • Complete Engineering Change Notice (ECN) for release to document control
    • Participate and investigate changes by utilizing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to determine if other drawings require similar changes.
    • Maintains and refines customer requirements during the design process.
    • Represents the company within an assigned territory, either in person or by telephone, to provide detailed information directly to customers with regards to Terex standards while meeting customer requirements.
    • Displays or demonstrates products and services in a professional manner.
    • Collaborates with sales, internal teams and management to assure customer satisfaction throughout the design and building process.
    • Create or revise detail and assembly drawings based upon sketches, marked-up prints or general instructions.
    • Resolve engineering problems that develop during the manufacture, test, or use of the product.
    • Review and act on Engineering change requests received from customers or manufacturing.


    Basic Qualifications: 

    • 2 years of vocational education in mechanical drafting including CAD instruction blue print reading ; in lieu of educational requirement, candidates with at least 3 years mechanical drafting experience may be considered

     Preferred Qualifications:

    • Associates Degree in relevant discipline or 2 year degree from a technical trade school
    • Autocad
    • 3D Modeling with Solidworks
    • Knowledgeable in 3D design software, flow, and workings
    • Knowledgeable in 2D AutoCAD design, demonstrating proficiency to conduct print changes
    • Demonstrates knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and tools
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
    • Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic systems, welding processes and application, controller application and workings, MRP systems, and lean principles
