Terex Strategic Sourcing Initiative

As part of the implementation of our ‘Execute to Win business system, Terex has launched several major initiatives to better understand how we operate in certain areas.  A major initiative is in Strategic Sourcing.  Wave Teams have been established using a standard 11 step methodology to source specific categories, phased over the next several years. The ultimate intention of this initiative is to develop strategic sourcing excellence.  Integral to our success is the delivery of best in class supplier quality and the continuous development of our supply base.


Position Overview:


Title:                Supplier Quality Engineer, North America

Reports to:       Director Supplier Quality Development North America

Location:          Redmond


This position is part of the supplier development and innovation group within the strategic sourcing initiative.  Reporting to the Direcgtor Supplier Quality Development  the individual will join the Wave teams and support the qualification of new suppliers as well as ongoing supplier quality control, auditing and improvement of supplier related activities and metrics.





The SQE will work closely with suppliers with early involvement to develop advance component development plans, advising suppliers on right tooling, checking aids, providing timely inputs to suppliers on Quality, Delivery and field issues with a view to institute proactive approach on quality.

The SQE will also work closely with factory based SQE colleagues located within the region and globally to help develop measurement systems, component approvals, and quality and delivery issues in cooperation with design and manufacturing engineering teams and supply chain.

  • Work with Wave teams, Operations, Warranty and Design Engineering to qualify new suppliers or materials; supporting quality/cost improvements in manufacturing and the supply chain
  • Qualify new suppliers in a timely manner when required
  • Effectively use and deploy Advance product quality planning, Structured Production part approval process (PPAP)
  • Investigate and analyze supplier quality issues, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Assist in implementing continuous improvement projects related to the quality system
  • Work with suppliers in implementing necessary actions to resolve supplier corrective actions through the SCAR process
  • Maintain supplier quality metrics and communicate results to suppliers and management
  • Ensure that approved supplier list and vendor materials are routinely updated to maintain accuracy.
  • Manage supplier change notifications to ensure that they are appropriately assessed, communicated and all follow-up activities are tracked through timely completion.
  • Conduct supplier audits and provide support for supplier quality systems improvements
  • Develop and maintain the supplier first article submission program


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years’ experience in New Product Development, Strategic Sourcing, Lean Manufacturing, or Total Quality Management, Production Planning & Scheduling


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in auditing and assuring implementation of corrective action of supplier QA procedures
  • Technical knowledge characteristics of a wide range of component parts, assembly, tooling and manufacturing process
  • Expert knowledge in the application of Quality Management Systems, problem resolution techniques and improvement tools
  • Demonstrated success in problem solving, as well as product and process analysis
  • Excellent analytical skills and trained to work with relational databases
  • Results driven, action oriented
  • Process discipline
  • Communication and collaboration skills with the ability to develop relationships across levels, geographies and segments


A second language relevant to the region would be advantageous



Willingness and ability to travel (travel could be 50-75% during periods of supplier assessment and implementation)
