Terex Strategic Sourcing Initiative


As part of the implementation of our ‘Execute to Win' business system, Terex has launched several major initiatives to better understand how we operate in certain areas.  A major initiative is in Strategic Sourcing.  Wave Teams have been established using a standard 11 step methodology to source specific categories, phased over the next several years. The ultimate intention of this initiative is to develop strategic sourcing excellence.  Integral to our success is the delivery of best in class supplier quality and the continuous development of our supply base.


About the Position:


Title:                Director Supplier Quality Development, North America

Reports to:       VP Global Supplier Development & Innovation

Location:          Redmond or Okhlahoma City, USA,


This leadership position is part of the supplier development and innovation group within the strategic sourcing initiative.  As a leader within the SDI group, the individual will help to create the processes, tools, and capabilities of the supplier quality organization, as well as the deployment and execution. 



  • Works closely with suppliers and plant Quality organization to ensure accurate development and implementation of supplier control plans
  • Manages the supplier qualification and documentation process
  • Works closely with suppliers and plant Quality Engineers, to ensure the supplier complies with total quality and product requirements
  • Manages supplier quality performance measurement and reporting and be actively involved in supplier performance evaluation
  • Develops and maintains database of all projects and tracks results
  • Secure implementation of processes, systems and tools
  • Ensures quality of technical documentation and support during strategic sourcing process
  • Manages compliance with, and use of global and local contracts within region with regards to Supplier Quality
  • Works closely with category managers, manufacturing engineering and quality on product cost take outs
  • Performs on site quality audits at supplier locations and reviews quality plan
  • Ensures suppliers follow the quality plan and complies to Terex policies and guidelines
  • Identifies, communicates, and deploys continuous process improvements to achieve target level of performance
  • Approves Production Part Approval-files, with inputs from SQE and SDE, including process validation audit
  • Provides quality assistance in implementing new product introductions, through supplier survey and selection
  • Global optimization, training and implementation of supplier quality related processes and tools, coaching and support



Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 10 years’ broad based experience in New Product Development, Strategic Sourcing, Lean Manufacturing, and Total Quality Management, Production Planning & Scheduling


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in auditing and assuring implementation of corrective action of supplier QA procedures
  • Broad technical knowledge characteristics of a wide range of component parts, assembly, tooling and manufacturing process
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Six Sigma or other relevant quality system
  • Demonstrated success in problem solving, as well as product and process analysis
  • Excellent analytical skills and trained to work with relational databases
  • Results driven, action oriented
  • Process discipline
  • First class communication and collaboration skills with the ability to develop relationships across levels, geographies and segments


  • A second language would be advantageous



  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
