Overview:

Write technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, parts manuals, or operating and maintenance instructions. Create line art illustrations to support instructions and pictographs to be used in machine programs and manuals.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the procedure, structure, and detail of machine documentation.
  • Develop and maintain installation, configuration, service, operation, and how-to documentation, as well as online help for both customers and employees.
  • Interface cross-functionally within the product development team to acquire source material for documents and to develop understanding of the products and processes.
  • Apply corporate and regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Organize and place raw data into usable tables.
  • Clearly and correctly state and summarize technical information and conclusions in documents.
  • Critically review document content to ensure accuracy and ask challenging questions to refine the clarity of document content.
  • Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, formal, content, methods of reproduction and binding.
  • Study drawings, specifications, markups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence.
  • Interview productions and engineering personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods
  • Participate in department projects.
  • Manage, organize, and communicate project information and project activities.
  • Create line art illustrations and pictographs using Adobe Illustrator when required for machine program, decal, or manual creation.
  • Lay out material for publication, arrange for typing, duplication, and distribution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 year degree
  • 1 year Adobe In-Design experience
  • 2 years experience in a technical field such as technical writing or engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word and a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat (PDF), and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must have the ability and desire to keep track of document and project details.
  • Must be able to work quickly and efficiently on documents and tasks while still maintaining high quality in work.
  • Understanding of engineering and other technical information.
  • Project management and time management skills.
