Responsibilities:

Main Purpose: The main purpose of this job is to provide product safety engineering support for Terex AWP products and/or product lines.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

Product Safety:

  • Coordinate with the Terex Corporation Product Safety Director on product safety matters including accident investigation & reporting, product bulletins, new product development, product standards, and product audits.
  • Prepare & Review Accident Reports and respond accordingly.
    • Interface with Customers
    • Interface with Investigating Authorities, ie OSHA, HSE
    • Interface with in house counsel & outside counsel
    • On Site Investigations / Product Inspections: Travel Required
  • Coordinate with segment service techs or product managers on product inspections.
  • Product Bulletins: Review/Draft/Edit bulletins (safety notices, product advisories, and service advisories) in compliance with Terex Product Safety Reference Guidelines.
  • New Product Development: Assist with risk assessments during design phase.
  • Review and approve new /revised technical publications and product materials:
    • Operators Manuals, Sales Literature, Field Communications, Marketing Material, product warnings, and decals.
  • Product Safety Consultation
    • Damaged Equipment Repair - written correspondence to customers.
    • Product Modifications/Alterations – written correspondence or memo regarding same.
    • Industry & Standards Development: Leadership roles on applicable committees – both North American and International.

 

 

Litigation Support:

  • Expert review, accident reconstruction, research, exemplar videos, and consultation with outside counsel; Travel Required.
  • Coordinate written discovery compliance and sign certification for same.
    • Coordinate production of documents.
  • Testimony – Depositions and Trial
    • Expert: Prepare expert reports, and provide expert testimony.
    • Corporate Representative: Act as Company representative for trial.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of design experience in a manufacturing environment involving industrial/construction equipment or other heavy equipment.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s Degree or Professional Engineer License in related field.
  • Experience supporting litigation, accident investigation, or expert testimony.
  • Background with industry standard development, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment.
  • Experience in application of product safety principles to new product design and product support.
  • Experience operating in a global multi-national company and interfacing with global agencies.
  • Leadership experience in product design or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Strong written communication skills including detailed content review and editing
