We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resources professional who wants to take his or her career to the next level. In this role, you will be the Human Resources leader for a facility or function.  You will develop, implement and drive human resources solutions for a specific client group within Terex Utilities - Services.  In partnership with your customers and HR teammates, you will also work to integrate HR strategy with business strategy, build leadership and management capability, support effective performance management, ensure optimal organizational alignment, and support career development for a dynamic, diverse group of Team Members.

 

This position provides support to the Terex Utilities - Services locations across the US, extensive travel involved, approximately 30%.

Responsibilities:

Business Partner - Understand the business people priorities.  Serve as a key member of the facility or functional management team to assist in driving business results.  Drive systemic organizational and people strategies that are aligned to the business strategy. 

Human Resources Excellence - Work collaboratively to diagnose manager and Team Member capability needs and design ongoing learning and development plans. Consult with leadership team about implementing management capabilities that result in an open, inclusive and diverse environment based on The Terex Way values.

Management Development - Partner with HR peers and business leaders to develop effective leadership and management succession planning.  Ensure creation of a talent pipeline, succession planning, management development and career development for employees. 

Change Agent - Partner with, and coach, the business leadership team to facilitate organizational and cultural change. Act as a catalyst for building Organizational Effectiveness within the business.  Educate the business on HR trends that affect the business. 

Process Manager - Lead implementation of core HR programs such as goal setting, performance and talent management and compensation management into the business ensuring an effective, sustainable people strategy over the long term. 

Employee Advocate/Relations - Build management capability to facilitate an open, inclusive, Terex culture-based environment that enables effective employee relations.   Ensure role is perceived as an objective employee resource and escalation path for unresolved employee relations issues.   May conduct investigations and provide conflict resolution as necessary.

Program/Project Management - Lead various projects across the assigned client groups such as implementation of the regional recruitment model, staffing new product development efforts, annual review and various other projects as assigned.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, perform, and participate in day-to-day Human Resources Management activities for team members.
  • Assure Team Members receive timely response to inquiries, answer questions, and  receive access to all Human Resources services.
  • Administer a full range of Human Resources programs designed to ensure Team Members against loss of income due to illness, injury, layoff, or retirement.
  • Provide advice and service to Team Leaders in operating units on matters such as organization, job design and team building.
  • Participate with Team Leaders in developing short and long range staffing plans based on and related to level of activity and type of products.
  • Establish regular communications about company-wide Human Resources programs through periodic orientations for work teams, written communications, and newsletters
  • Facilitate recruitment and selection activities for certain key openings.
  • Coordinate and participate in review assessment and interviewing of applicants.
  • Facilitate identification of Team Members eligible for professional development and promotion. Work with leadership of the operating units to provide growth opportunities for high potential Team Members. (Succession Planning)
  • Communicate salary and benefit programs to Team Members. Collect, analyze, and prepare job information for purposes of determining salary placement. Ensure Team Members get timely service on benefits matters.
  • Communicate, orient, and enforce Human Resources guideline. Investigate incidents, conferring with Team Leaders and Members, and recommend actions.
  • Serve as advisor to Team Leaders and Team Members alike, on matters such as performance management, skill development, general morale, and other employee relations matters.
  • Develop curriculum and training materials on topics such as communications, leadership, motivation, behavior, and diversity. Facilitate management training on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate and participate in programs such as employee assistance, employee health, and workers compensation.
  • Manage corporate HR projects and/or functions as assigned (i.e. unemployment claims, Worker's Compensation/Medical Services, recognition, as well as improvement projects).
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position



Qualifications:

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 years directly applicable HR experience in an HR Manager role, and/or an equivalent combination of advanced training and experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in related area is preferred
  • Candidates must have strong oral and written communication skills, business acumen, excellent project management, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated competence in coaching leaders at all levels, employee relations and knowledge of employment laws (i.e. EEOC guidelines, FLSA and ADA) required.
  • PHR or SPHR Certification preferred. 
  • Experience as an HR leader in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred. 
  • Must be able to multi-task, deal effectively with ambiguity, recognize trends and identify systemic approaches to solving problems in a matrix and dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of organizational dynamics and the ability to think strategically are essential.
  • Ability to effectively lead and influence peers and clients.
  • Excellent critical thinking, strategic and analytical skills needed, as well as the ability to successfully execute strategies in support of the business goals.
  • Flawless written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong project management skills required.
  • Ability to make recommendations for changes in approach, concepts, and the design of solutions as a member of a team.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles preferred.
  • Bi-Lingual / Spanish a plus
