The mission of Terex Tax is to efficiently satisfy all compliance requirements and generate added value for the Company.  The Terex Tax team is a customer-focused group of professionals working collaboratively with Terex businesses, corporate functions, suppliers and customers to reach agreement on requirements, create efficiencies and value-added change through innovative solutions, stable processes and standard work. The Tax Manager role will enable business finance managers and site controllers to accurately account for GAAP and Chinese statutory tax balances, ensure timely and cost effective tax compliance, provide tax counsel and support and participate in Terex business operations and decision making in China, including acquisitions, dispositions and new projects.


  • Train and direct Chinese finance personnel in U.S. GAAP and Chinese tax accounting and perform quarterly review of reported balances for accuracy;
  • Lead efforts to secure tax and financial incentives from local governments;
  • Closely co-ordinate with the Terex Tax team to insure strategic and tactical alignment and the execution of tax initiatives in China.
  • Identify and implement tax minimization strategies for existing operations
  • Support and expand initiatives to work more cooperatively with government officials in developing tax policy in China;
  • Monitor tax law changes and appraise tax and senior management of the impact;
  • Manage tax audits either directly or through use of appropriate outside advisors, and proactively review businesses to identify compliance risks;
  • Manage Chinese transfer pricing compliance. Coordinate with Terex Tax on all related transfer pricing strategy, compliance and regulatory developments;
  • Coordinate with the Terex tax and treasury teams to ensure tax-efficient funding of Chinese operations and obtain efficient repatriation of cash;
  • Improve tax (direct and indirect) compliance processes so that each process is precise and is performed cost-efficiently;
  • Provide tax support for non-China jurisdictions as required;
  • Provide support on any major project,
  • As needs dictate, recruit and build a high performance Tax team.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance/Accounting; MBA is a plus;
  • Public accounting and multi-national corporate experience and familiarity with U.S. GAAP and ASC 740 is very desirable;
  • Relevant treasury and tax experience within a Holding Company structure is essential;
  • Ideally some knowledge of the heavy equipment Industry;
  • Strong technical and analytical skills in tax and finance;
  • An experienced financial professional with a background in a variety of financial roles, strong project management skills, prefer some experience in the merger, acquisition and divestiture in China;
  • Strong inter-personal and inter-cultural skills, as a high frequency of interaction with a large variety of external as well as internal parties is required, mostly based on influencing skills rather than formal authority.

  • 20% or less of time travelling within or out of China.
